I've got about $70 burning a hole in my pocket. Any suggestions what I should spend it on? Had $200 bought a Sifu, this is what I've got left to spend. Ican't let it just sit there. HELP.

Get ahold of Mike at Grandprairie knives and buy one of those new Gerber Yari fixed blades. Blade is 154CM and seems to be heat treated very well(judging from my sharpening experiences), and canvas micarta handles. Plus, the knife just plain feels good in your hand. Mike's website is www.gpknives.com

Have you checked the "Knives For Sale" forum here at BladeForums? You just might find a good deal on a great knife for your $70!.:).

Someone (I think maybe discountknives.com) was selling BK&T Magnum Camps for about that much. That's a hell of a knife.

You could also get yourself a Spyderco Calypso Jr. in VG-10 and still have money left for a couple of beers.

Should come close to covering the cost of a Griptilian. From what I read, that is a pretty big bang for the Buck.

A good number of Spydercos fit within that amount, and as Shmackey said, a bit left for beer.

I think the new Military and LEO models of the CRKT M16-04/14 could be under that. Or, the Chive, Scallion, byKershaw -- get both for $60 at Bayou LaFourche. Or, the CRKT Companion, and the newest CRKT, the Mo'Skeeter. A fixed blade and lockback. The FB is reckoned very good by most who've posted on it, and I think maybe the Mo'Skeeter might be aimed at Spyderco. Will have to see.

DOn't forget the Magna by Outdoor Edge -- even in the aluminum handle, can get the derivative of the Carson M4, that is very well done. EDC in 154CM by camillus. Paragee by OE. Impulse by OE. Many to choose from out there. Just saw closeout Spyderco Centofantes for $65 in a mag today.

I think if I were you, I'd go back to square one, and decide what knife you'd really like to have. If it is in your price range, go for it. If not, save towards it. I think it much better to buy knives that you've got some dreaming into beforehand. Trying to choose because you have the bread, isn't likely going to get you close to your dreams.

I think your Sifu needs a less spectacular partner.

I think I like the Calypso jr., the griptilian, and the native so far. I need to look a bit closer at some of these. All this info and I was just trying to kill time at work. Thanks. Off to Spyderco.com.

Anybody know where I can find a Calypso jr. in Miacarta and VG-10?
-Thanks

Hey POBOY,
That's my ultimate small folder.
Sal, are you listening?
Unfortunately, Spyderco doesn't make that combination.
Either you get the micarta w/ AUS8A or you get plastic with VG-10
Bummer,
Lenny

Poboy, I dont think the Calypso Jr. comes equipped like that. I believe the micarta version is only in AUS8A, which is no slouch either. Its one of my favorite carry knives. If you want VG10 and micarta in a Calypso, you are going to have to find one of the discontinued full size Calypsos. If you can find one, it should be close to your budget too. I got mine a month or so ago for about $75 shipped. In fact, that has been my daily carry for the last couple of weeks.

Hey Lenny, lets see if we can get Sal to listen to the voices of the masses here. I want the Calypso Jr. in micarta and VG10 also. I also would like to see a fixed blade version of the same Calypso Jr. in VG10. Maybe a skeletonized handled version in VG10 as a neck knife? Handle down carry in a concealex sheath. How cool would that be?

Danbo,
I like the way you think.
A skeletonized fixed blade neck knife version of the Calypso Jr in VG-10. Maybe a dressed up version too with really slim black micarta scales.
SAL, WAKE UP!
Lenny
