I have a couple of questions that are simply a matter of curiousity. 1. Is the 282 as good as the 281? The only difference seems to be the handle. Thanks for the responses on the NXT. 2. I recently purchased a 521- with the Turkeys on it. When the knife is on its spine the turkeys are upside down. Also noticed this on the shields on the 700s. Just wondered why. 3. Why are the nail pulls on the 700s (except 703) near the point of the main blade rather than near the middle? The knife would look more balanced if it was closer to the middle IMO. I's sure there is a reason I just wondered what it was. Thanks for a great forum and a great company.

Russell,
Lets see if i can get all your questions answered. The 281 and the 282 are quite similar. One thing about the 281, the rubber overmold makes it just about impossible to loose the knife. When clipped to your pocket, the tackiness of the rubber really hangs on!
Most knives are displayed with the knife open and the edge down. That is why your turkeys seem upside down.
Regarding the 700 series nail pull, it is a matter of leverage. The closer the nail notch is to the blade pivot point, the harder it will be to open the knife. This makes perfect sense but i will admit to you that i do not know if this is why it was done. I agree with you that it would look better towards the center of the blade.
