Oh man you guys GOTTA check this out!
I just got the new 2-way Satellite Internet connection from Starband.
Speeds average 500K+ most of the time and in non peak hours has reached 700K.
It's not cheap, but if you're lucky like me and can write it off on your taxes it's not a bad deal!
It comes piggybacked with DishTV and for 99 bucks a month you get "always on" access and the Top 150 Channels package.
You absolutely cannot BELIEVE the speeds!

Having had RoadRunner for a while now, I'd hate to go back to dialup. Broadband rules! No dialing in, never getting kicked off, fantastic speeds... The prices in my area for cable and DSL is $39.95 per month - less than I was paying for my old ISP and a second phone line. Not much going against it.

Amazing as it is,
DSL here in Arkansas would have run me better that 200 bucks a month!
The ISP wanted 150 a month for the dedicated IP number and SWBell wanted 75 a month just for the DSL line.
Initial installation was going to run me about 700 dollars.
I must have been done, because they sure wanted to FORK me!


Ma Bell and the ISP can BOTH kiss th' crack!

I have to laugh every time I go to Napster, I get songs downloaded in about 40 seconds now.

I'm getting NTL cable DSL soon for £25 per month all inclusive.

The Uni network has a few T5 connections but is usually very busy.
The Geology Lab has a T2 connection and the PCs are not restricted or heavily monitored so us Geo-Science students can download pretty much anything and run some games as long as we let the Lab Tech. play too.
Sometimes I get silly speeds of 1.6MB/sec...All depends on the speed of the site you're downloading from though...
