704 What Year Mfg ?

Can anyone give me a date of MFg. on a 704 i just purchased. The tang is marked. BUCK
704
U.S.A.
There's no date code after the 704 and the inlaid buck medallion is in script.
From what i've been able to find out in the search feature mfg. looks to be 82-85 Looking for something more specific if possible.Also is this a 425m blade? Thanks

According to my information the 700 series was introduced in 1979. Date codes were started in 1986. I can't narrow it any more than that for you. The steel was listed as 425M. Maybe someone else with more knowledge than I have will chime in on this.
