Hello, can anyone please point me in the right direction so I can get some standoff's,/Barrel spacers for my 707?, one's that I can use with the existing fixtures, any help or idea's would be most helpfull.

Respect from New Zealand,

Kris.

I have had no luck finding anything that's the right size and looks good. Everything I find is flat/straight and boring.
So, I buy a larger sized hourglass standoff and then modify them to fit the 707.

I think it uses the same size as I used on a 705. Mine are simple SS barrel spacers. If that's of interest, let me know here in this thread and I'll dig up the size and US source. Someone here can probably help you with shipping.

That'll be awesome thanks!

Here's what I used: http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/product_info.php?products_id=489

It's .140" "long" x roughly .215" in diameter. As shown in the pic, there's a single groove turned in the center.

If you want something plain like that and can't find a source in your hemisphere, and if KK won't ship to you or charges a crazy rate, let us know here and someone can probably help you. Edit - I see those are backordered at the moment, so in terms of a "right now" fix, they're temporarily not an option.

Further edit: many years ago when my sons were away at school I made a short YouTube video to describe standoff conversions on a 705 and 710. You can look at the video here:

The BM707 uses a .125" standoff or barrel spacer.
If you are putting these on a knife with factory scales, they will need to have a big enough hole to let the screw pass through it.
If you are using custom scales, they need to be tapped for a 2-56 screw.
I buy the .165" or the .156" at knifekits, then using a special rig I made.....I shorten them to .125".
The rig I made helps me make sure I keep the bearing surfaces square to the standoffs length. This part is all but impossible to do free hand.

I checked a 707 that one of my sons has, and it is indeed thinner than the 705. I didn't mic it, but by eyeball .125" looks right. Sorry for the bum steer.

Thanks everyone! Looks as though its going to be easier if I got to my local machine shop and get some turned up out of stainless.

Thanks again.
