Hello,

Story is that my late grandma found this knife in the street during 1970's or 1980's Brooklyn, NY. And now its new-to-me and in need of some new scales! I've used the SAK wiki and tool but I just cant narrow it down enough. IDENTIFY MY SAK lol

Thanks to all

I don't know what it is, since all your images show up as busted for me, but I do know one thing: sheeple will love it.

I bet if you sent it in, no matter how beat up it is, they would repair it. (Or maybe replace it)

Looks like a Climber small to me too.

The 84 mm series is still made, so replacing the scales, toothpick and tweezers should not be a problem.

Ohh, 84 huh? I measured from each end of the scale (with scales removed) and they measure exactly 90mm.... weird? Am I measuring wrong? I also just measured the body of the SAK from end to end exactly 90mm

Here is another pic...I think this thing has (4) "Layers" if im getting this right?

Also, hehe... letz see if anyone can correctly ID the OTHER Victorinox beauty currently getting a make-over in the background.

If you're measuring 90mm... then it's probably a 91mm, 4-layer. Old Huntsman maybe (if it has a saw) or a Mountaineer (if it has a metal file).

Agree with Manbug. 91 mm scales are easy to find. It looks like you need a spring for the scissors also.

Manbug and pops, okay, im gonna go with 91... that's what closest. Gona order scales and replacement parts from EBAY from good sellers. Cant seem to find any USA companies that sell both the replacement scales, AND the parts I need. THanks! Ill post back with how it turns out

Nice work so far! Looking forward to seeing that one with a new set of scales, t&t, and a spring. Get yourself one of those mini screwdrivers for the corkscrew too.

Yeah I assume those are universal also. Dam! Should have ordered one either the rest of the parts. Maybe if I see one online w free shipping I'll pick it up.

Relatively new to SAK's. Question.... so far the quality, feel and stampings in this SAK say that its real to me besides the fact that it is likely from the 70's... an era in which I dont think they were making counter-fit SAK's yet.... But then I noticed the scales underneath do not have the 'swiss army' or victorinox' imprinted on them like todays do... thoughts?

Also, please notice that this SAK was either A) Lit on fire or B) Left on an engine manifold because the scales are severely melted. So much that it melted around the brass rivets and hand to be snapped off.

While still sentimental, I hope I did not put time, money, effort into restoring a knock-off SAK. Can anyone see my post above about the scales not having the VICTORINOX lettering? Also, got the new scales in... and they did not 'snap' or 'pop' into place, they were so difficult to put on that I gave up and pressed them on in a vice. Comments?

It's an old Victoria stamped Huntsman made between 1968-1974 back when they the had a solid Awl and Clip secondary blade.

That's not even remotely "beat to crap" nor genuinely worn out. I'd be proud to have that knife as a user except that the scissors option does nothing for me except take up space. The former owner probably dropped it on hard surfaces many times, that's all. Much more noticeable though he/she couldn't be bothered to sharpen the blades nor is there any real wear on the can opener, bottle opener or awl tips. That knife was never really used the way it should have been. The small blade has the old style (pre-1985?) shape which I really like and it's never been re-sharpened either.
If you're somehow thinking this is a collector item give it up but if you're looking to have a wonderfully useful pocket knife then there is nothing wrong with this old girl. I'm told that Victorinox will repair these (either inexpensive or free of charge) so all I'm suggesting is: Jump.

Guess I should have taken more pre-pics! Scales heat warped from something but she's pretty now and will be used like it's meant to be used. Got it hair popping sharp also. Officially in EDC rotation.
