710 benchmade?

How smooth is the action on the 710 compared to something like the 940? I really want one but only if I can open and close it as nice and easy as a 940..

About the same, after they've been worn in. If I pull back the Axis lock on either of mine, the blade will swing freely.

In my experience it's hit or miss out of box. I am a fan of the 710 and have had one that was a super smooth model like your description of the 940. I got another that was stiff out of box and I had to apply some BM blue lube to get the action to where I like it. "Smooth" and "how does it flip" I think are very subjective terms. Everyone seems to have a preference. I found that preference varies grately between folks.

I've got a 940-121 and an M390 710, and they both open with the same smoothness.

Neither have ever been dissembled, and I'd imagine the regular versions of the same knifes would act the same.

I've had multiple 710s, and multiple 940s, and they've all operated with about the same level of effort required to flick them open.

I've had 3 or 4 710's and all have been SMOOTH!

So have the 940's.

I have had better and more consistent smoothness from the 940's. Anything with the axis lock is gonna be pretty smooth, though, once it's broken in good.

I've had two 710's. Both were quite smooth. The pivot would loosen after a while, but I shouldn't used Loctite.

Dont have the 940, but my 710 is as good or better than my 810.

My biggest issue with the 710 is vertical blade play. I've had 4 of them and they all had it. I love the knife, but I refuse to accept blade play from a 100.00 + knife. I've had a 942 for at least 15 years and it's prefect in every way.

I ve had two 710 s and both open smoothly and easily with no blade play . One is centered 50/50 and the other is 55/45. My user I had to tighten several years ago and it has required no further adjustment.

That is OD Green Canvas Micarta sanded to 220
