Yesterday I polished the but of the blade on my 710 where the axis lock pushes against the blade, I also polished the area where the axis lock sits on the blade when it's closed. Unfortunately it has enough swing to contact the plastic spacer in the handle, I sanded it down, but it still contacts it and cuts into it, I figure I'll just take it apart once more and grind a narrow groove where the blade rests to keep it from leaving that ugly line, and from damaging the edge. It's only right at the belly of the blade. I also polished the bushings and the edges that they run on, and it's smoother. If you are thinking about polishing the butt end of the blade don't touch the little wavy part.

Anyone think of a better solution?

The blade of my 710 bottoms out in the handle too. Is this a common problem? Can benchmade really fix it?

For me it was because I polished the blade. I ground down the plastic spacer on my dremel. It fits perfectly and does not cut into the spacer. It shouldn't do it normally and didn't to it for my until I polished that one area. If you haven't modified your knife at all (I have) send it back.

Well, seems to be more than just polishing an area, if it takes away so much material, right?
