710 HS Questions

I've had a BM 710HS for nearly a year, but have avoided any type of use, especially foods, that might gunk up or get the lock and pivot wet.

Does anyone use their 710HS fo kitchen type uses? Do you have any "rust" problems?

How do you clean and lube?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
 
I've used my 710 for about everything for the last 2.5 years. I've never seen the lock get gunked up to the point of not working. I just rinse it off with water (preferably hot) and put a little oil on the back of the blade where the axis lock drags when opening/closing the knife. Every 8 months of so I give it a real good cleaning by taking it apart (voids warranty). I also clean the slots in the frame that the axis lock bar runs in every once in a while. I just take a rag or paper towel and role up the edge and run it through. I don't think there is any special needs the axis lock has beyond those of a normal knife.
