Hi, I picked up this 710D2 used, but not a user on the boards. It arrived with this tip:

Can I work this out without de-needling the tip or should I ask for a refund? Are the 710's known for off-center bad tips? The seller didn't mention the tip and says he doesn't have a camera. There is also some light corrosion on the blade up near the pivot but I believe I can get it out easy enough.

its not a easy job to fix a tip you'll need to regrind the whole edge untill the tip comes back.

Do you qualify for the warranty? I think you need the original proof of purchase or something similar (check the terms). I would think that BM would rework the tip or otherwise resolve the problem for you under warranty or for a reasonable charge if you are not covered. If it is a user, then it may work fine despite being a bit off center. Regrinding by hand will be a lot of work given the steel used. But there is no reason you would have to lose the point if it is done correctly.

No receipt was supplied. I've arranged to return it for refund. I'd rather pay the slight difference and pick up a new 710 at this point...

Thanks for the responses.

Would that have been a user or a safe queen?

If it was mine I would have just used it. It would have straightened out with sharpening in short order.

It would have been a user. It might not be too apparent from the lack of focus, but the tip was almost squared.

Saku, no worries, thanks for turning that around. I've wanted a 710 for a long time, but try to buy from exchange/BF users so that they can turn around and feed their own addiction. :)
