I am sure I've seen them in the past, but I just noticed a new variation on a favorite pattern of mine recently. Someone sent me a picture of a 73 from GEC, with the regular spey blade seen on the single and double blade trappers. Instead of the large clip blade normally seen on the two blade versions, this one had a jack blade where the spey would be, about 2/3 the size of the main blade. How common were these variations, same numbers as the regular 73 trappers/scouts? Like I said, I don't think these variations really jumped out at me until recently.

I have one in zest yellow bone from 2009. Surprisingly easy to open for a 73. It's one of my favorites.

These were made in 2008 and 2009. The Tidioutes had the nail nicks both on the mark side. Here is the lineup:

Hemlock Green, Lemon Zest, Burnt Arrowhead, Cocobolo Rosewood, Mexican Bocote, Blue Denim

Well, while we are talking about blue denim, I'd like to see some with blue denim micarta. (or whatever it be)

I can't seem to get excited about that blade combo however.

The blade combo makes it "picnic" friendly to me. The spey blade is great for food tasks. Great for spreading butter lol. The pen and spring are slightly thinner making the knife slightly thinner overall. I don't have one in front of me right now but its long and stout enough for most other tasks like opening packages etc. It's like having a peanut sized blade with a full handle.

I'd love to see Blue Denim Micarta be used more but you can always go aftermarket for that. I've got some Blue Denim "Burl" Micarta to use too (picked up off the exchange).
