Which will be better as a rough-duty EDC? Blade length isn't that big of an issue for me, but it should be able to take some abuse. What are the pro's and con's of each?

I am only looking at the 154CM versions of these, BTW.

From a side view, the 730 appears to have a more obtuse point. It is also a little thicker at the spine near the point. I had both, but sold the 710 because I didnt like the recurve. I used the 730 as a throwing knife against trees and cardboard with no noticable damage. I also used a broken axe head to baton the blade through some 22 gauge sheet metal. It chipped, but I had also reprofiled the edge to 15 degrees per side. In short, you would not be disappointed w/ the 730. The 710 may be just as tough, but I didnt use it very long before selling it. Both were 154CM blades.

Well its been a while since I had those knives, but I'd have to say they are about the same on durability. I liked the blade shape and size better on the 730 then the 710. I used them both without any regard for the knives, both held up great.

My vote goes to the 73x.

Currently I carry a 520 BTW :D

I've had a 710 in the past, but I still EDC a 73X series, and have 4 73X to 0 710's. I find the handle to be more comfortable, and the knife overall to perform better to me. Others have different opinions, but they are all wrong of course.;)
