Hello everyone,

I just received my BM 7505-132 in the mail today. It's big, beautiful, and seems to be built like a tank in most regards. However, I have an issue with the detent and auto mechanism and I was wondering if anyone on BladeForums could explain what I'm experiencing. When the blade is in the closed position, there is a tremendous amount of up-down blade play. The detent ball drops into the detent hole in the blade and the blade will sit in that position, which is fine. But, if I apply any real pressure to the spine of the blade in the closed position, the blade pushes past the detent ball, which pops up out of the detent hole on the opposite side, and travels enough that the tip of the knife moves almost a full 1/4" toward the spine of the handle. Looking at the knife from the spine, I can see two different stop-pins. The first controls the open position and has different sized faces cut on it for adjusting the lock-up, which I am a huge fan of. The second seems like it should control the closed position but it doesn't even touch the tang of the blade until I apply pressure to it in the closed position. Is this normal? Is anyone able to explain this? Is anyone else who owns the knife experiencing these same issues?

In short, my BM 7505-132 has blade play in the closed position. Can anyone help me understand why?

I have one and it has the same motion. I think it's related to the spring being compressed in the dual action mechanism. I can live with that little wiggle.

I'm a little more peeved about the terrible lockup, which I cannot adjust out with the adjustable stop pin. The lockbar/blade tang geometry is way off and the contact point looks to be about one hair wide, leaving serious vertical blade play to the point that it just clacks around like a baby rattle. It's gotta go back to Benchmade apparently.

I'm sure they'll be able to fix it.

I spoke to someone from Benchmade and they said much the same thing.

After handling the knife, I've realized it's not quite for me, so it's being returned.

For $510 and being built by the BM "Gold Cell" , it shouldn't have any of these issues (or any issues at all). All I can do is shake my head.
