the one in the picture looks to have the scales of a 7505-131, it was limited to 100 knives but doesn't have all the features of the 131. where did you buy it?

Looks like somebody took the CF scales off of a 131 and put them on a 132 frame. The 235 numbered blade is another mystery though.

I bought a new 810 from an reputable online store that had the grey blade and the frame of a 810BLK. Called BM and they told me they did that in their early production runs like that so all was well.

If you haven't called BM would do that. They'll have an anwser for you in less than 20 minutes. I've never seen a BM clone look so close to the original so I think you just got a factory odd ball but could be wrong.

This right here. Call and find out for sure.

i guess i will have to call them and end the mystery, as soon as i get a chance i will call and post what the answer is that they give me. thanks for everyone's input.

i just received word from benchmade customer service, and this is what they had to say. "I shared your photos with a few other co-workers and the consensus is that someone built what we would call a “franken-knife”, meaning that they disassembled 2 Benchmades and mixed up the components to create a custom knife. Strange choices they made- but that’s what we believe is going on here." so i guess that is that, although i cant figure why on earth anyone would do this.

Perhaps the other one was defective or didn't have as good an action.

thats one DAMN expensive "Frankenknife". It does indeed look and sound like somebody had both the 131 and 132 then got bored and mixed and matched parts. It is still a $1,000 knife in that condition though. Hell of a gift!
