I just picked up this knife and wanted to know if it had high carbon blades or stanless blades. It is the imitation stag handle with a shield that says "improved muskrat" with 787 on one of the blades. Also it says "improved muskrat" stamped? down one of the blades. I had one of these years ago that my grandfather gave me and I know it had the carbon blades but not sure about this one... Does anyone know of a website that has information about this knife? Any information would be great, thanks in advance.. :)

As far as I know, all of those were made in 1095 carbon steel. There were a few stainless steel Schrade Walden era muskrats made, with jigged black composition handles.

But every one I have seen with the jigged brown imitation bone has been carbon steel.

Newer Schrades will be tang stamped "SCHRADE +" if they are stainless, the "+" designating SS.
