Just wanted to share this gorgeous #79... It's a 2-blade version (a spear with long-pull and a coping blade) and surprisingly SLIM for a 2-bladed folder. Just received it on Monday and it's all I expected and more. I have a KSF leather slip on the way for pocket carry.

She looks like an easy carry! I would request a shot of the blade profiles please :D

That is a beauty, very tempting since seeing yours to get one too, been holding out for a stag one but, I dunno, ;)

That blood red bone is pretty, and your pics are very helpful. It really is nice and slim. May I ask a few questions?

Does the coping blade ride low enough to not dig into your hand so much when using the master?

Am I right that this one has no half stops?

Looks like it has the typical GEC sharp corners on the tangs. Are you going to round them off or leave them as is?

I currently have the #79 3-blade version and am hoping one of these 2-blades shows up on the trade forum as I'd like to give it a try.

It doesn't seem to be a bother to me at least. Not an issue IMHO.

Correct... No half-stops on this one.

I usually de-horn any sharp spots like that. Haven't done it yet but one or two small spots I'll probably hit with a fine metal file one of these days.

Your answers are inserted into the text above :)

I'm very pleased with it. It's another exquisite piece of work from GEC. This one came nice and sharp also.

Thanks for your answers and info. Enjoy that beautiful knife!

Andrew

I concur, it's a dandy size knife, I own both the 3 blade and a 2 blade and one thing to note is, unlike the 3 bladed version, the coping blade doesn't have a regular kick you could file down to drop it lower into the frame, seen here;

but it isn't much of a problem how she sets, might smooth down the spine but likely I won't ;) as I really like her just the way she is.

edited to also say the main blade, while keeping the same overall shape, the blade thickness is .06" at the spine just before the last swedge starts while the 3 bladed main blade measures about .104" a goodly difference, a much slimmer slicing blade! :)

Gary, thanks for that extra info. I like a wide thin slicing blade, almost "canoe-ish" (or maybe "sunfish-ish"---try to say that fast 3 times :))

You guys really aren't making it easy for me to resist this one!

Andrew

I hear ya, I'm very tempted, was holding out for a stag that suited me, but that red, it does draw your attention ;)

Oh jeez..... thanks, now I have to buy one!

Super color on those scales, A real beauty.

Love the blood red. When funds allow I am very tempted by the single spring version, great looking knife
