Nice grab on the Ganga Ram. At that weight and length, it should be lively in the hand as well as a good chopper.

That Ganga Ram is an awsome deal:eek: Too much overlap with my M43:(

If that was a valid argument I would have only 2 kuks instead of... I don't know, I have lost count.

But seriously, I think they behave quite differently in the hand and they certainly look nothing alike (though I constantly hear from people "They all look the same").

I agree. The m-43 feels very different in use than the ganga ram. I love my 17.5 inch ganga. The lighter handle makes a big difference. Don't hold back on getting one if you get the chance. The m-43 is great...but it feels a lot heavier in the hand.

Its a length & weight thing;
M43 - 18" 34 oz (good all around)
20" AK- 20" 38 oz (if it absolutely positively has to get chopped NOW)
12"CAK- 12" 20 oz (pocket chainsaw)
Bahadur Knife- ~15-7/8" guessing 26oz (good woodsbumming knife but not a khukuri profile)
I'm patiently waiting for funds and a roughly 16" chiruwa in the low to mid 20 oz range with a wide bevel like the Bahadur Knife.
I'm also going to test edge rolling here shortly by "testing" on some frozen bottles of water:eek:
CallsThunder, cute Frank Herbert reference;)

Kudos to you OldSchool. You're the first person to recognize (and mention) the reference.

heinlein: it is a reference to the science fiction books written by Frank Herbert and now by his son set in the "Dune" universe. I'll leave it to you to read all of the books and determine why it is appropriate here. Have fun.

CallsThunder, Brian's books I feel are better paced and more fun scifi than daddy Frank's. But the old-man left a heck of an outline for the complete saga. All 15000 years of it.
Heinlein google "ginaz" the core of the Dune series glance over it but the prequel books by Brian Herbert get to the point. All in all a great series for knife lovers even introduced me to the Kinjal knife.
But you have to read Larry Correia to get your HI Khukuri (Ganga Ram) literary porn.

I'm with you oldschool...I really like the new stuff better...they are long but full of good background on all of the characters. You are right about Larry's books...reading Vendetta now.

If I had noticed the reference to Ginaz i think my tired old brain would have recognized it. I thought you were referring to his AKA which could be an allusion to the Dune books or many other things. I have read almost every book published by Frank and several of the ones his son has co-written. Of the non Dune books; The White Plague and Soul Catcher are two of my favorites. I prefer Frank's books to his son's; but to each his own. I had purchased two of the prequel hardbacks just in time for them to burn along with my house.

heinlein...
very sorry to hear about your house.
I haven't read White Plague or Soul Catcher...I'll give them a look since they are your favorites. It's funny how some people like the old and others the new. I've noticed a lot of people like the original Star Wars movies over the new trilogy. Growing up in the 80's the original trilogy was special but I really like the new ones better...go figure.

edit: Yangdu, please forgive our hijacking of this thread with book talk.

Beautiful Tamang (if I only had the funds!) and screaming deal on the perfect-sized (B)GRS.

Old School, I understand Larry's hero is now using a big Chitlangi now. (Oddly similar to the one I sold him. ;))
