Well I've been hangin' around here and voicin' my opinion since the beginin' of 2001, not everyone agrees with me and sometimes I don't make much sense.
I've been collectin' since I was 15 years old and when I found this place I knew I found a home.
Now I ain't the most prolific poster although I average 2.5 post a day, (sometimes it feels more like 25) I must of lurked a lot at first, you guys must've scared me, anyway you've been there for me, and I always try to give back and support our home here.
I've had my fair share of giveaways over the years and I've won and acquired many nice knives from others, I even participated in and hosted passarounds, what I'm tryin' to say is even though 8,000 posts isn't the massive post count some have, whether through padding or just accrual over the many years and many posts, I'd like to think my posts for the most part had substance and that I've entertained and informed with my contributions.
One thing that always irked me though was when someone has a give away and the person givin' the knife away has to work hard to sift through post with duplicate guesses posted or the people who don't check back on the original posts to see if they've won, than want their knife a month after you announced the winner , it's a free knife, have the courtesy to check back.
While I'm on the subject, send an email when ya get the knife, maybe post a little something about the knife, thats not too much to ask is it?

and why I did it this way, here's what's up for offer and the rules of the contest.
The Knife is a Henckels Splitback Whittler with Jigged Bone Scales this knife was lightly carried by me, it was originally given to me by a forum member so I want to pay it forward to:
The contest is random everyones got a fair chance to win, all ya gotta do is guess how many bricks make up the face of my fireplace, (so figure the guessin' starts around 100 or so and goes to anything above).
Yea I'm countin' the bricks that make up the front inside, not the chimney and if there's a tie, ('cause I said closest either over or under in case of the tie it goes to the person closest without goin' over).
And it takes two half bricks to equal one.
Everyone over the age of 18 is invited to guess, if a duplicate # is picked the first poster's # counts the second poster with the same # gets disqualified, (come on guys it's a free knife all ya gotta do is make sure ya don't repeat someone else's #).
Another thing you have a week to pm or email me with your shippin address, if I don't hear from ya I'll post the next closest guess, once again it's a free knife ya don't have to work too hard, just pay attention).
Open to the lower 48 states only, (sorry guys i'm still not workin' so I'll ship to the states only).
Contest is over 11-16-09 @ 11:59 PM EST, my wife's Birthday, I'll post the winner's name on 11-17-2009 about 8:00pm EST.
So in a nutshell:
Open to everyone 18 or older in the Continental United States, no minimum post.
Only one guess per person.
