Is this steel adequate for such long blade, regarding strength, and durability.I have a chance to get a Bark River 8+inches bowie in 12c27 , wish it was made out of carbon steel........

I've been using 12C27 in some of my folders and its great! A lot of people under rate it based on what they see on paper I think but seriously its a surprising steel in use and quite versatile. I never gave it much thought before buying my first Bark River knives in it but that little micro Canadian along with a few other bigger ones I have are so nice and perform so well really that I was impressed enough to give it a shot for my own folders. I'm glad I did. Its a tough steel, gets incredibly sharp, is very clean right out of heat treat, cleans up really easily and is priced oh so right. Although yours may be a different type of knife I'm finding that at 60 Rockwell the stuff performs quite well and keeps a great edge right up there with some of my so called super steels. I've been carrying the one I just finished for myself and am quite happy with it for everything I've done with it. Turns out those Scadi peoples know what works! Who'd a thunk it? :D Seriously a lot of great knives are being done with this steel. I think you'll be just fine. The Nordics do knives right focused on users that work not lookers that don't so I'm pretty sure its going to surprise you. I can see why Mike took their example and started using it in his own knives. The stuff does the job.
