For some of your northerners....8-12 inches of snow probably barely raises a *yawn*....

But for Northwest Arkansas it means the city will shut down for probably 3 days..!!!

Last time something like this happened I went without power for 5 days because everyone here is COMPLETELY unprepared for inclement weather.

:grumpy:  :grumpy:

Aggravating.

You'd think they'd realize that shutting down the city COSTS money instead of saving it.

Oh well....

Keep your fingers crossed for us folks.

Here's the conditions:

I'm a *transplant* (I grew up in areas where snow is measured in *feet* not *inches*)

I only remember school being shut down twice. First time was the heaters failing. Second time was the roof caving in because we got 3 FEET of snow in a couple hours and they couldn't keep up with it.

Grrrrrr......

Crazy Arkansas.

And here's the kicker.....guess what the weather was on Saturday....

70 degrees

!!!

It's NUTZ here, guys...!!

Dan

you have my sympathy Dan - last Friday when it was 72 here, I was flat out, drowning in my own lungs, sick. Yesterday my fever broke so I could go back to work & just in time for the same storm to come rolling in up here.
Today was the appetizer -- freezing mist all day.
snow tonight, 9" more snow tomorrow, but with 40 mph winds to move it around, then a couple more inches for dessert.

it's snowing!

not 8-12 inches though.....LOL

but still....the 4-5 inches we did get has completely shut the city down today. Nobody on the roads. Probably will be the same tomorrow.

Where the @#$%^& are the snowplows?!?

Dan

If the power doesn't go out, I'm hoping this translates to a lot of time being spend in the shop working on the Nessmuks!

Dan -- I sent through a bunch of money which I emailed you about. Can you confirm receipt by updating my order status?

Thanks
Karl

not sure how much snow we have - because the 35 mph breezes are pushing it all sideways...
visibility has been less than 100 yards constantly since 8 AM.
I'm really looking forward to tomorrow when I can go out and play in it since my road will be drifted shut and I'll be forced to take a vacation day if the governor doesn't close this half of the state down again. :D

I'm in Canada
I don't even put on long pants till the snow hits 18" or -25 degreese which ever comes first

Dan -- Did the storm shut you down or did you finish up those Flat Ground CPM 3V Bushcraft knives?? ;)

Really, hope the storm doesn't cause too many problems.

We get snow pretty much every other day lately. Towns and cities are running out of places to put it. They aren't allowed to dump it in the rivers or ocean, cause it might contaminate the water. It's not like that snow won't eventually end up running off into the water anyway.

Who needs the treadmill when there's all kinds of snow to shovel? :D

Hope you have extra milk and bread until the city opens back up.

Glenn

We stocked up before the storm, thankfully.

The only real effect is the school being shut down. You'd think that would mean more time in the shop (since I teach at a community college). BUT, what it really means is all my kids at home gettin' Cabin Fever and drivin' my wife crazy. :p

The boys and I spent some time sledding this afternoon to take some of the edge off....LOL

But yes, I am getting stuff done!

And yes, sadly, school is closed/canceled again tomorrow...:(

Dan

We are having a kegger in the back yard tonight! ;)The girls are going inside to get in the AC!-lol:yawn:

Holy smokes....school is cancelled AGAIN!!

And it's snowing again too...

We're never going to get back on track here....:thumbdn:  :grumpy:

On a positive note...I've been getting more stuff done in the shop....LOL

Dan

Holy Smokes!!!

Woke up this morning to another 8-10 inches. This storm is worse than the one I posted about at the first of this thread!!

We're getting 2 inches per hour and it's supposed to keep going until Noon.

Crazy stuff...

Dan

Some places ended up with 2 feet of snow....

Thankfully we only got around 16" or so....

I've been practically *snowed in* for most of the last 2 weeks!!!

Getting OLD....
