Wow, these screws for sheaths are really hard to find in 1/4" length. A local supplier can get them for me in SS for $3.45 for 100, which is a great price, but they aren't black. Guess I'll have to burn 'em myself. I did find one supplier for black oxide ones, but they sell 5,000 at a time for $168, which is still a good price, but that's an awful lot of screws. I went through maybe 200 in the last 5 years! So, if like 50 people want to get together on a group buy of these suckers just let me know! :)

hey chiro let me see a pic of these things. i have a local hardware store that usedto be a machine shop supplier before the machine industry kicked the bucket around here. he has thousands of types of screws all dirt cheap. maybe i could find some there for you.

Great, thanks! The best description is one I can't link to. Go to McMaster-Carr's website at: http://www.mcmaster.com and put in part # 91771A190 and you'll see it with a schematic. Makes it crystal clear! I have some SS ones coming in for cheap but I'd like to find black oxide.

nothing in black oxide. and nothing with a phillips head. he said only slotted.
who knows though he's had stuff there soo long he can't remeber. when i stop by this weekend i'll take a look through his inventory

OT :

Jens,

Have you; by any chance, ever worked on or made a small light colored wooden cabinet for an older fellow who is tall, thin and grey haired. And did you put your name on the inside of one of the drawers? I'll explain if so. Feel free to e-mail me about this.

I looked for 1/4" black ones at McMaster and didnt' get a hit on their website. Hmmm....

well I got 1/2"..I suppose you are needing them for kydexsheaths?..I used to use 1/4 but switched to 1/2" when I started to use a rubberwasher between beltloop and sheath for some flex.

Email sent Mark.

1/2" are way too long for what I need. I don't use the rubber washers or anything like that, so I need the shorties. Thanks!

I'll look through my junk today and let you know tomorrow. I have a bunch of big metal bins full of screws that were being thrown away by a company going out of business. Might be able to hook you up.

Sorry,

They are just dirty screws not black oxide. What about putting tool-black on regular screws?

Tool black? Where can I buy that at? Didn't even know it existed. :( I guess I'm not hanging around at real hardware stores enough anymore! Like I said, torching the SS ones gives a pretty decent dark/industrial finish, but I like the black oxide a bit better.
