Here is one I just finished. It has an 8" blade, sharpened clip, and desert ironwood scales:

That is awesome! This is the one you should be packing in the QCI for backup.
Darcy:)

Nice blade. This one strikes me as a "soldier who came home". A real tactical look but the ironwood takes you out hunting rather than on patrol. Great job.

I never thought of it that way, but I like it:thumbup:.

Mike the steel is 13/64" (fat 3/16).

Great looking knife.

what's a QCI?

Red

Thanks Red.

QCI stands for Queen Charlotte Islands. I went bow hunting there for Sitka Blacktails earlier this month. They have basically shut down the bear season there and the bears aren't that scared of humans. I've had bear problems there in the past. When bow hunting I like to have bear mace on right on my belt and a big blade hanging on the left....

I realize that a big blade isn't the best defense against a bear, but it is better than just bear spray alone. Its pretty tough to get a permit to carry a hand gun in Canada.

This knife stayed home as I didn't get a sheath built in time.

Wow, that looks like a beautiful place to hunt and probably a good challenge and workout too. looks to be some heavy foliage. With a deer down, no guns and lots of bears I can understand why the knife would make you feel a little better, hopefully it's ready next time you go out there. :)
