I ordered a knives plus strop after seeing in various places online that said it was the best all-around pre-loaded strop on the market.

I've never used a strop. I've been using a few different sharpening systems (Sharpmaker, lansky system) and finally wanted to take it to the next step.

I'm sure there are some stop experts on this forum and I was hoping for some recommendations on resources on how to strop correctly. I find a lot of conflicting info on the web.

Well, I`m no stropping expert but one thing I can tell is, if you strop your knife at the same angle that you sharpen it, it will get bloody sharp.

There is a stropping angle sticky in this section of the forum that I noticed after posting this question. Very informative. My strop comes in today in the mail. I'll be using that

Stropping is dynamic and you can largely form the technique to fit your sharpening approach. That being said, if you're using the Knives Plus strop, I would personally use lighter pressure at the same or lower angles.

Patience with more strokes will get you sharper. If you ever rush and start applying pressure, you will only ever kill the edge and frustrate yourself further.

And never rely on the strop to do any sharpening work. If your edge isn't excellent going in, the strop will not get you there. Expecting a mediocre edge to become a great edge with excessive stropping is also another great way to become frustrated

As mentioned, low angle and light pressure and you should get good results. Adding some dots along the edge with a sharpie should give you a pretty good idea if your angle is good.
