Thanks for the info. Based on another topic I tried taking apart one of the scotchbrite setups for a drill, and installed that with washers and nut on my buffer. It works perfectly! This is the setup I was looking for to remove light sharpening scratches.

I will also start keeping my old hand-pads for this purpose.

If you can't find the exact wheels that you need you might try purchasing some #7446 rectangular hand finishing pads and stick them on the shaft of your buffer. These make a good wheel for putting a fine satin finsh on blades. I use the pads in the shop all of the time and save the "worn out " ones to use on the buffer. I just punch a hole in the center of the pad and put them on the shaft between two nuts and washers and start running. They wear into a wheel shape quickly so there is no need for trimming.

almost any machinist tool supply catalog will have these listed....and they have the best prices tool....msc in new york.... rutland tool in calif....(msc stands for manhattan supply co. i think)
 
imperial tool is the best place I have found to get the unitized wheels they usualy have a good stock and are resonably $ and shipping is fast.
