806 AFCK just sold for $237.50

That is pretty crazy...and shipping was over $10...?

A guy tried to sell a BM 2006 catalog last week with a buy it now for $15 plus shipping--those catalogs are free!

When I first heard they were being discontinued I ordered mine online for $139, last I saw they were up to $149.

$5.40 for insurance? For a $100 knife? Puhleeeeeze.

As for the final selling price? I'm gonna guess that one of the seller's buddies put in a shill bid and nobody upped him. I'd bet the buyer is a friend of the seller's.

So if I knew that a local store still had a couple in stock, I wonder if I should buy them and Ebay 'em... hmmm.

:)

Absolutely, a shill bid,,,,I once purchased and sold some knives to a retired executive from one of the big name knife manuf. He told me that with two e-mail addresses and two eBay accounts,,,,,,when a knife would not sell for his minimum,,he would bid it up and and if no one followed on the bidding,,,,,just keep the knife for listing again in the future.

FK

By the way, I stopped by the local store during my lunch errands, and it looks like they still have a few for $145. Not really tempting enough for me to buy them, but could be a halfway decent deal if someone else wanted one.

For about the same price, i'd rather get the 710 & 910 in d2 when they come out.& those blades will be satin,too.........

After reading this thread, I looked at my local store, and they had several for $145.

Well what does that make my AFCK liner lock, round hole, 10 plus year old mint in box 800 in ats34 worth?! I figure a couple of hundred anyways! Any takers? Ha, keepem sharp

They've been going for $150+ for some reason. Fun to watch the bidding, though.

Come to think of it, there is a game in there somewhere.

It's weird, but I'm sure the phenomena will die down.

Hi all, it's my first post on this forum. I've been learning lots since I joined a few weeks ago.

I've actually been following this particular AFCK. It was actually in another auction by a Canadian seller first:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6600307002&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1

I tried to bid on it (I am in Canada and only buy in Canada to avoid custom confiscation) but it was sniped by the current seller.

The current seller bought it for $155.01 (and $8 shipping) and then flipped it for $237.50 in less than a month. Pretty nice profit margin assuming the transaction goes through.

BTW, I am now waiting for a brand new AFCK AXIS through mail order from a local company. :D
