I noticed the scales on my 806 felt kind of loose, I broke out the jewelers torxs drivers and found that one of them would just spin, I pulled it out and the threads are messed up…

Anyone have any ideas how to repair or replace it?

Thanks

The easy fix and answer is to send it back to BM for W/R service.. They will replace the screw and tend to do more then asked when you send a knife in.

I sent an old Sentinel back and when I got it back they had replaced all the screws, the clip (only if you ask for a new clip), and cleaned and lubed it. I also believe they replaced the washers as it was noticeably smother when I got it back.

Best to call first, ask to speak to a tech in customer service, tell them what you need fixed and send it in. They will take good care of you.

That would be my suggestion.

I have a 806 with M390 steel that has a couple stripped screws on the pocket clip. I'm going to send it on in.

Now that I think about it. The couple of times I've called and asked for a new clip they sent the replacement screws to go with it.

If you can get the screws out, maybe ask if they can just send you new ones and not have to send the whole knife in?

Worth calling and asking.

That would be a better idea, as a first resort at least.

The model you have is still relatively new, you might see if they have any a new clips left for it too? Really never hurts to ask.

You are right though, unless you can't removed the screws that are stripped really no need to send in the whole knife.
If they are stuck though, I'd let them do it. I wouldn't want to chance scratching the scales or anything else on that knife if you know what I mean.

Is rather not send it in, I've been through that process before. Takes many weeks and the last time UPS delivered it to my previous address... The ex's house. 😳. That was awkward!

Call and see if they'll send you a replacement screw.

If I'm reading this right, there's stripped screws as the problem. Benchmade will send replacement clips and screws as a common request; but the removing of the damaged ones on the knife is beyond many user's ability. FWIW...The reason they always ask what model when we call is so the correct length screws are sent. One too long can damage the blade - one too short can again strip out. I've sent a few knives up for this process and have had the knife returned to me without issue.

Sorry to read Mr. Parker's was mis-delivered...the question is, did the knife get fixed properly?

Yes the knife was just sent in for sharpening.

If the screws are free of charge I'll give it a shot. Hopefully the threaded insert is ok.

I called this evening and spoke with Nolan. Really cool guy! He seemed impressed with my old 806... We got to talking about the old AFCK and Mini AFCK's their value and rareness. I could have talked knives all night with him! :)

Anyhow they are sending me a scale screw set and a Contego pocket clip.

Just wanted to share my positive experience !

Good to hear. Nolan's a friend to many of us and a great resource for all things Benchmade. Let us know how it turns out please!
