Would someone please educate me about the 808 Talon and 807 Mini Talon.
There is not any information here on the forum that I could find. Were they a catalog item? When?
I did find mention of a July 2018 BOTM. Found a few pictures on "that other place". Some had limb hooks, some did not.
No mention in the model history.
So.... when were these made? Variations? Number made?
Usually I'm the guy answering questions but I never paid much attention to tactical stuff.
Thanks in advance,

Craig had the 807 at one time. I dont believe the 807 was a production item, more a one off or maybe a smaller run.

the 808 came in 2 colors I seem to remember. tan and a grey. later on I remember a fmc version with more cutting edges and hook shape at the end that was supposedly a special run for some place. i have one somewhere i got from Mike. I imagine Craig might remember more on these. most of the oddball talons came from him and Mike when he was hitting those factory sales.

2016 give or take a year or two maybe started selling, by 2020 or maybe 2021 range was discontinued. these aren't exact dates, just what I remember.....

edit part: think i had it backwards in my head. hook version came out earlier. later reissued without the hook setup in 2020 range time frame for a bit til they stopped making it.

My limited knowledge of the 808. The original 808 with the "limb hook" was restricted to LE/Military types on Buck's website.

The original Talon FMC was made for Unifire and available only on their web site until their contract ran out. Unifire was a first responder equipment retailer or something along those lines in Spokane, IIRC. It was discussed thoroughly back when it was discovered. I seem to recall not being able to get Buck to acknowledge it's existence or verify it was legit back then.
Then once the SFO was completed, few of the original models with the limb hook were available. The one we all know now came without the limb hook, presumably to avoid conflict with the SFO after the fact.
I seem to recall a hand full of "mini" ones coming to light as well.

Like all my input - i could be simply making this all up.

matt would know best on the 807 mini talon---i think there was less than 50 of those made---kinda remember 2 boxes of them on the rack at factory sale few years ago...they were expensive...i believe they were 500 dollars...

There was a small pilot run of the 807 Mini-Talon in coyote tan. Less than 50 were ever produced. Some made it out of the factory as sales samples but were only sold during a factory sale a couple of years ago. I believe we sold 30-35.

Here is a summary of the variations I could put together.
I hope for this to be a searchable resource for the future.
Thank you to every one who contributed.
Additions and corrections welcomed.
Feel free to add pictures.

Searching for the end of the internet I stumbled across another 808 Talon variation (on eBay).
This one has a limb hook and the date code on the knife and box is 2022.
Compare to the 2020 and 2021 catalog Talons with no limb hook.
See post #12 for explanation. (pictures copied from the bay)

The 0808BRX-B were the remaining blades with the limb hook but without the Unifire logo on the right side of the blade. There is a difference in the handle color for the BRX and BRX1. The 0808BRX has OD green micarta handles and the 0808BRX1 has layered black/green/tan micarta. The one pictured was sold at the factory store in 2022 and 2023.
