Hey,
just a question about my new contego, the axis lock has to move VERY LITTLE for the blade to unlock, unlike the other 2 benchmade axis locks i own...
Is this normal???

The axis bar doesn't have to move that far on most models for it to disengage. Be more specific with the movement, measure the movement with a ruler or tape from the center of the axis bar studs and say how far it moves until it unlocks. My contego bar doesnt have to be pulled back much before it gives, neither do most Benchmades.

I'd say if the whole width of the Axis bar is engaged on the tang..your good to go..if it is not..you can try a few hard openings...also, the A bar and tang should wear slightly and snug forward as it breaks in.

I agree with 'Icky'. Let the knife break in. Give it a week and see what happens. You're covered no matter what.

The Cerakote probably needs to wear off. That will allow the bar to slide up farther on the tang. It's been a while, but I remember this when mine was new.
