So, I had seen these shears online new. Did some research and found out the current ones are produced in China.

I came across this thread here
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1034027-Buck-Utility-Shears?highlight=buck+shears
And found out they were first produced in Japan, and were very high quality.

It then became my mission to find the Made In Japan version.....

I was successful in biddi g for them on the bay, and received them in the mail today :)
Needless to say I am quite pleased!
They are in unused condition (until I use the heck out of them!) And very very sharp.
They cut paper like a razor blade.

The leather sheath was dry as an old fossilized bone...
So I gave it a good amount of oil to soften it up and protect it.
Then I oiled it again.... it soaked it up like a sponge.

All in all, I think these are super awesome.

Anyway... here are 2 photos from the seller, then 1 of them in my hand and 1 of the oiled sheath.

Very nice!!

I have both....the one you have and the one made in China. Both are high quality and I use both in the kitchen. I seem to remember the one from China being slightly larger and fitting in my hand better, but I'm not in my kitchen very often lately.

Wow, interesting that the size changed a little!

I wanted them for kitchen use, and for out in the gardens harvesting food crops.
The part near the pivot looks like it will be absolutely perfect for cutting larger stalk vegetables.

My China ones are laying on the counter right now, waiting on a trip to the garage where the grinder will remove that screw driver.
Sorry, but these are the least go to scissors that we have in the kitchen.

I like the screwdriver on it... it came in handy today when I used it to break the seal on a mason jar of homemade blueberry jam...

I forgot to mention that production of the Splissors will be right here in the US of A!!

They also have a replaceable blade if I remember right.

I've been back home for a few days and took a picture of the one from Japan (smaller) and the one from China (larger) side by side.

The one from Japan measures 8"x3" and the one from China measures 8.5"x3.5". I like them both and will add the Splissors to the set when they are available next year. :)

Wow! It's pretty cool to see those 2 side by side.
The differences are pretty apparent in that photo.

SPLISSORS!!!!
