Where to start....

I just got this knife in the mail for a whopping $70 new. Best $70 I've ever spent. Looks like the average is between $85 to $100 looking around online. I've had quite a few bad experiences with buck recently, so I was hesitant to say the least. Man, did they hit the "mark" on this one!

Flies out. No really. FLIES OUT. This might be my fastest deploying knife. Buttery smooth. It just dangles when it's partially open. Like a Benchmade Mini Grip or Kershaw Ram. The lock up is S O L I D! No play in any direction and its comes hair popping sharp. The grind is perfection.

The lock mechanism took some time to get used to, it's a bit stiff, but it's still new. I prefer to close it with two hands for the time being.

The 830 carries deep, just like the vantage series. The scallops on the scales help for increased grip on the aluminum. Surprisingly ergonomic for its squarish design.

The long story short, buy it. At it's price point, I'd argue it's one of the best knives for the money. If not the best. I'll have to put it through it's paces before I give a full opinion. But color me enthused.

Got the last one from the cheapest website i could find at 77bucks, with great help from a great friend.

Any comments on blade retention(perhaps compared to the griptilian)? It was brought up as a potential issue in another thread.

Mrdeus, I read about that same issue prior to purchasing and watched the video on how that specific user modified their lock with a dremel bit. I was concerned to say the least. I'm happy to report that I experienced no such issues with mine. The blade retention is spot on. It took a hefty throw for me to finally "gravity" open the knife. I'd say it's similar to a BM grip if not a little better. I have zero concerns with accidental open in my pocket.
