I got it! The Strider -buck 880SP. Its more of a tank than I possibly imagined. The blade has a little side to side play. This is remedied by tightening up the torx screw, however the knife is moderately harder to open..... Should I leave it tight like this so that it will break in? Will it break in or is there a blade play issue?

Thanks for any help

Now on to the size rant= I cant freaking BELIEVE the thickness of this knife the blade is INCREDIBLE I definitely do not have to worry about breaking it.

Does anyone know of a company that might do inexpensive customizations for production knives? It would be kind of cool to slim this puppy down or put some different scales......I dont know. Ive got a couple of knives (CS recon 1 old model) that Id like to work with .

Also one more question, why is the blade tipped back whenlocked at that slight angle? Was it to keep the tip in line with directional force? Not complaining I think it looks cool like that!

The edge geometry puts the edge at an angle to the centerline of the knife. This increases cutting efficiency, less resistance.

The pivot should be tight enough to keep the wiggle out of the blade.

Glad you like the knife, enjoy!

Thanks! If I tighten the pivot enough to de-wiggle the blade will it eventually break in and get smoother if I leave it that way?

It should be fairly smooth without any wiggle, but it may need a little bit of breaking in.

My new 880 TX has no wiggle in the blade and your are right, the knife is built like a tank. Please refer to my review. It is titled spx or something like that but is really an 880 TX. I love mine.
