Just got my new Buck Strider from Dennis Wright and all I can say is...Wow! (Great guy to deal with, by the way.) The blade is just perfect for a tough use knife. (This one will see much "tough" use like opening envelopes and shipping cartons here at home.
) Guess what I'm trying to say here that it is much much more utilitarian than the tanto bladed 880.
Besides the blade there are a few differences in mine that are noteworthy. First is the thumb stud is now secured by a torx screw rather than a hex one. Second is there is now a large hole in the liner beneath the mounting for the pocket clip. This is apparently there so the screws for the clip can be longer and do away with the problem of them stripping out. The third is that the titanium liners appear to be slightly thicker than the ones on my BG-42 tanto. By the way, my spear point is, like my tanto, one of the "First Production Run" knives. Love 'em both!
The only problem I have with the knife is the fact that it only has the one thumb stud. (Same as the tanto version.) First thing I did after giving the knife a once-over was to reverse the stud, as I am left-handed. Why not replace the screw with a stud? The left-handed stud could have the torx driver's recess in it and everyone would benefit. How? Well, ever been doing something with only your weak hand free???
