I just got an "improved" 880SP and I have a question. On the original there are bronze washers on both sides of the blade, but on the new one there's this big honkin washer that covers almost the whole end of the knife. Just curious, but what is the purpose of this thing?I have an older 880SP. a mini tanto, and a solution (obviously I like 'um), just wondering why the change...Thanks....Jim :D

Ill take a stab at it, but it is just a guess...
I think it just helps keep the blade centered when closed??

On mine both the washers are the "big honkin" kind.
