880SP question

I have a used one and have notcied that it has the single sided thumbstud and older style scales, but the liner lock looks to be the improved version due to the blue hardening marks that appears on it and it also has the new washer set-up with one large on the left and the smalleron the right.

Where they ever produced like this or was this one sent in for a tune up at some time?

Don't know if this is exact but it seems like I remember a post about Buck replacing the old setup with the new setup if the knife was sent in for service. I think that most of the ones sent for service involved the liner lock, lockup, or something within that area. Course I could be way wrong, as I was wrong one time, several years ago.
