Went gun and knife show shopping this weekend. Picked up several Schrades worth the money. The one I have questions about is an 880T USA three blade knife never carried or sharpened I got for fifteen bucks. Looks to be same pattern as 897UH, but can't find it in Clemente's book. Anyone know anything about this one? Thanks, Dan

The 98OT is the same pattern. Sometimes the stamping die got filled in, making the 9's and 3's look like an 8. The 98OT is the 3 5/8" stockman, with a SCHRADE+ stamp. Same thing happens on 33OT knives as well.

I don't know anything about an 88OT, and don't see one on the Old Timer section of the Collectors-r-us site. But I have seen before when tang stamps are a little deep or light and distorted. You mention it looks like an 897 pattern. The 98OT looks to be the same pattern. Can you discern whether the stamp might be a 98OT that's a little messed up?

Dave

Dang, Hal, beat me to it!

After digging out strong pair of reading glasses it appears you guys are right. It's a 980T. Other knives that followed me home were lb7 in original white box all paperwork serial #AV46500, 70T in original brown box with all paperwork, a Schrade TRT96 tang stamp Schrade+ USA LTD in box with all paperwork These came from from same guy for 60 dollars total. Also found a Buffalo Bill Cody knife tang stamped S.W.Cut. 882 USA, and last one was Small Schrade one blade Copenhagen tang stamp Schrade cope USA Had a good weekend, Dan

Dan, if you got all that for $60, I'd say you had a slightly better than GOOD weekend!
