881Y Schrade NY USA.....date question

Hi,
I've searched the forum but still can't find an answer.

I have a Schrade 881Y stamped as follows....

Main clip blade stamped Schrade over N.Y. U.S.A.
Opposite side of blade stamped 881Y

Bomb shield is blank.

Long match striker pull.

Was this specific stamping made circa 1973-76 or 1973-1986?

Probably closer to 1973 to 1976. But no definite answer. The matchstrike long pull gave way to the non matchstrike so it is closer to 1973. Same goes for the back stamped tang. The older ones are stamped on the back side. It varies from pattern to pattern too. Not sure if there is any information as to when they went to a plain long pull without sales receipts.

I'm with Hal on this one.
My evey-day-user is an 881, I have been using since 1973. I have earlyer 881Ys and the (later non-matchstrike pull) 881Ys.

I looked at 20 knives in my collection, before I found these two a-like knives made aftter 1973.
Thawk's 1972 is as close as we can say - The Yellow 881s and 8OTYs have become quit collectible... Ken
