Just got me a Buck Strider Tarani pocket knife with G-10 scales.

Whoa!

Lefty friendly if you have the thumbs of an average male.

Blade was superbly sharp out of the box as tested with the Juranitch/Razor Edge Systems Edge-Tester method (I used to have arm hair; now I test with plastic...).

Action was three-fold:

1. The knife is securely detained, but a 'Brownie-Pop' will get that blade out there quicker than on my lockbacks (my preferred locks are Spyderco's Compression Lock - the best lock I've ever seen - and the lockback, a classic whose only weakness is susceptibility to fouling).

2. The liner engages securely towards the left with plenty of room for wear and has no play. This is a liner lock that feels very trustworthy (not that I've stabbed into anything and torqued yet).

3. You need strong, tough thumbs to disengage this bub if you're using your left hand. Even with any other hand you use, the blade and lock have a secondary stop, so, you have to move the blade more closed than you may be used to before it will easily close. That may be defeated with high force, but it reduces the chance that you'll inadvertantly close the knife on your fingers.

The integral choil is a great touch, too, and is one of my favorite features on folding knives.

Thanks, Buck!

I just got one the other day. Great knife. Very tough and I second thombrogan's review. I also like the fact that the thumb studs double as the blade stop. No getting "pinched" like on the BS 880 and 881. You will need tough thumbs to disengage the safety. Easy open with gloves on too.

I'm looking forward to the PE version.

Me too. The only reason I haven't bought one yet is that I dont do partial serrations.

Does anyone have any pics of the lockup?
