I picked up an 885 a few weeks ago, and have been everyday carrying it. I find it to be an excellent choice, shame it's been discontinued. Light, carries un-noticed, fits my hand, and the 3 1/2" ATS34 blade is stout enough for big jobs, and the modified clip will easily pick a splinter. Anyone else enjoy one of these archived designs?

...Nice acquisition there Scott. I've been lookin' around for one of those since someone posted one a while back thinking it was a Chinese copy or counterfeit of a Buck...Looks like it would be a great EDC...

I picked one up at a farm supply store about a year ago. It was on sale as a close out for $50, it had been $95. I am happy with it very well made, but have not used it much. What years was it made? What was the MSRP? I also have the mini with wood handles and 420HC. It is also nice but is too small.

Nice pics Scott. I have looked at the 885 a few times and wondered what kind of an EDC knife it would make.

It is nice. The only adjustment was to reverse the thumbstud. The side towards the pocket clip was longer and hung on the pocket seam. Now that I've reversed it, in-n-out of the pocket easily, and the stud sticks up slightly above the frame when closed, but makes for easy right hand opening. Used it to dig dandelions out of the yard, dulled it, and a few swipes on the Spyderco crock sticks had it back to razor sharp, to open bags of manure compost for the garden :D
