UPS brought the new camera (Canon PowerShot A700) and the sun was co-operating today, so I was able to get a few images of my 888 Bowie by Burt Foster, MS. Coop has been very busy lately, so these will just have to do.

one very very nice bowie. I feel for any one who does not have a Burt Foster Knife. Good Pic Enjoy. L.B.

Man, that is a great package. I really like the damascus hardware with the smooth blade. Burt is really out doing himself these days!

Great taste in knives. Let's see more!

Thanks,

Kelly

Damn, Peter! Those are truly some crystal-clear images. All I have over you is *maybe* some composition talents. Like a knife like this needed more....

Very nice knife. Wow! The whole package is crazy. I have never seen that much matched-to-stag spacer treatment at the guard. That looks good.

HEY! That silver dollar is not as useful as a real dollar bill, or even pocket change. Why is it there...???!!! Oh, I'm sorry, I just read STeven's rant on corkscrews and I got carried away with function first..... :foot: ;) :p

That stag is so pretty it makes me want to cry. Nice look at the awesome guard and fittings in these shots as well.

Lovely bowie. That stag handle is very very good. What does the "888",signify.

I do think that the Peace dollar is infinitely prettier than the Morgan.

True, but the Peace Dollar didn't arrive until 1921. I needed the 1888 date for the 888 Bowie.

Late.Posting on this treasure. What a carver,Burt Foster is! What incredible stag. The guard as well.Killer blade.
Joss beat me with his first post. You sure do have the nicest stuff,Peter.  :D
Beautiful sheath.
Great pics! WOW! Thanks for sharing.
I see you're using it in your avatar now.I would be too.

Doug:)

Raj,

In China the number 888 is considered very lucky.
The Damascus fittings are made from an 8x8x8 pattern and the Morgan dollar was minted in 1888.

Best,

P

Funny, you don't look Chinese to me.;)

There is a difference between aesthetic goals and a waste of time, and Coop knows it, but cannot resist tweaking me.

Great pics, great knife, GREAT knifemaker, one of the best, IMNSVHO.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

This is an amazing knife. I'm flabbergasted about that guard, spacer, stag treatment. If you ever want to part with this one (why I wouldn't know, but who knows;) ) just give me a call and I'll take the first plane to the States:D

Take your medicine, STeven! :p 'Tweaking' is the correct term.

Peter, thanks for filling us in on the number relationships. That makes it even more appealing.

Damn, that knife is just brilliant. There are a few small details that I find particularly remarkable.

For example, the spacers do a wonderful job of both framing and accentuating the distinct patterns and textures of the stag and damascus. And the great lines of that long clip and the curved guard are just so well proportioned...

I hope Burt doesn't read this. I don't want him to think I have a thing for him. I just really like this knife. :o

Stunning package top to tail, the profiling of the collar to the stag is a wonderful touch. Congrats Peter and Burt on a really outstanding example of the craft!
