That is the total number of pages in "CJKV Information Processing" Second Edition at the moment. See: http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780596514471/
I started building its index, by placing index markers throughout the book, on the first of the month, and the index currently stands at 22 pages. I need to provide the index to O'Reilly, to be reviewed, one week from today. It is in good shape. The book itself is scheduled to "go to press" on December 12th.
O'Reilly outsources their indexes, but I decided to do my own, because I did so for First Edition ten years ago, and I figured that if I am typesetting my own book, I might as well do everything. Heh. Let me tell you, the index is a boatload of work, and some aspects of Adobe InDesign CS3 indexing are still somewhat primitive, such as the inability to apply character tags to the text of index markers, so that the text appears "as expected" in the generated index. Other aspects make builing the index easier.
Anyway, this weekend will be spent continuing to work on the index, though the bulk of it is done. Some topics and subtopics will be added, and existing entries will be tweaked.
I do have comfort in knowing the four NMSFNOs will be in route to me on Monday...
