890 Nitro Assist question

Hello everyone, my names Kris, this is my first post here in the Benchmade forum. I'm looking at buying an 890 Torrent, can anyone please tell my if you remove the small pin that connects the two leaf springs on the assist mech., will it still function correctly? In regards to the blade staying shut without the assist connected.

You'll need to bore a dent in the knife for the detent since the nitrus arm is also the same mechanism holding the blade closed.

Thanks UD406, I was looking a pic of an 890 disassembled, and it had a indent ball in the linerlock and a matching dent in the blade, so i was kinda hoping that would do the trick.

That's strange, since mine have the ball on the liner but no detent on the blade, hence I thought you might need to bore said detent.
