898 Impact Automatic

As I posted in the 'What I Got For Christmas' thread, I received an 898 Impact Automatic...Bucks other auto. I have the 110, as well, but the 898 carries so much easier, smaller and lighter with a deep carry clip. With the DC clip it is a bit more difficult to pull out of my pocket, especially with my old, weak arthritic hands. Two totally different blades/knife. The 898 will be my EDC for general purposes, the 110 for the field. The OD CeraKote(hard to photograph) and 'skateboard' tape insets are not to my cup of tea, but it was a gift and I will use it and treasure it. I'm reall enjoying this knife! Preston

I agree about the skateboard inserts, but I think it looks good for an everyday carry. It does have a nice style to it...

great auto, just wish they made a bigger blade version as well. as is too small for my likes and uses. enjoy 'er.
 
I have the original 898. I like everything about it except the blade grind.

4 versions:
Black handle satin S30V blade
Green handle black S30V blade
Orange handle black S30V blade
Coyote handle black S30V blade

5th version LE
Tan handle black S35VN blade

Yep, me too. I ordered the LE, the one MT_Pokt shows in this thread, tan, black blade, with the carbon fiber inserts:thumbsup: Preston
 
Can one of you answer a question for a southpaw?

How hard is it, holding the knife in your left hand, to push the button with our left index finger?

It's not that hard, I'm definitely not ambidextrous and can do it with out any problem. Preston
 
the 4 different colors.....the 898bks-b I have are satin s30v...what is the tag model number on your black -black preston??? I have several of the black with silver satin blade if ... these were at the factory sale in june--I should have bought more different color ones but I only bought the 1 set---dang it selfish huh!!!!

Craig, the number on the one I have 0898GRS-B. It's the green, with stone washed blade. Preston
 
ok now looking closer I can see it is the green one---thought it was black with quick look-need a black one???

Thanks, no stores to try one first, I found the 110 auto to be just fine that way also. Gun & Knife show here in March, hoping to maybe get an Impact in hand.

Although, it looks like in these pictures, the pocket clip is for sure not reversible.
 
What makes them nice is they are one handed opening and closing. Nice knife
They do everything needed on a daily basis.

 
where is yer black one mike????? all worn out driving??? no that's the marksman huh....
