I have a Resilience with 8Cr13oMoV blade. I like the knife, but wonder if I get a Military with S30v am I getting twice the performance at over twice the price?

I ask because while cutting some para cord the Resilience got dull FAST.
How will the S30v hold up with ctuuing chores?

S30V will lose its super sharp, hair popping edge fast. But, it will develop into a "working edge" that will cut for a really long time.

It'll (S30V) definitely, noticeably outlast 8cr13mov. Just like M4 will noticeably outlast S30V.

I've found fine polished edges to last about the same amount of work/time on both (that said, different knives and different thickness but both flat-ground Tenacious vs Para 1). The Para 1 will develop a slightly toothy edge that will slice very well but will no longer push-cut cardboard or paper easily. The Tenacious just gets a bit dull and starts to rip. 8Cr13MoV seems to work better for me with a very toothy edge - easier to sharpen and it will require sharpening more often.

I have the Tenacious and Persistence in 8CR13MOV. Comparing the overall performance of those to my Military in S30V, I'd say it's twice the knife and worth it:)

8CR13MoV dulls fast but sharpens real easy too and takes a razor edge. 5 or 6 swipes on the brown stones of the Sharpmaker and you're good to go. S30V is a lot harder to sharpen.
Is a Military in S30V twice the knife? Literally, I say not. The Tenacious family is incredibly well built, does not (IMHO) take a back seat to the Military at all except for the knife steel. But the price/performance ratio does not increase linearly. A hundred dollar Military is not 4x as good as a Resilience, but overall it is a better knife (it has a weaker tip though). I like the Military a lot, but the Tenacious and Resilience as SUCH good knives, they perform way above their price point. Imagine these knives made in a premium steel? They'd be unbeatable.
