I have been searching around for the specs for this steel, but only found out on wikipedia that its used by Spyderco exclusively?

Does anyone have the specs of it? how good is this budget steel?

The 8Cr13MoV steel is a Chinese steel that we have begun using and is very similar to AUS6 or AUS8. There was an article in a recent issue of Blade magazine about it. I'll see if I can dig it up sometime.

Apparently the wikipedia page needs to be updated.

Are knives in the Fusion line made in China? I apologize if this question has already been addressed in a previous thread.

Yes, all knives in the Fusion line are made in China. The Fusion line was envisioned to include more experimental designs and more competitively priced knives, both of which are achieved through China's low production costs.

I read about it in the Blade article that Chris was talking about. It's the same stuff that Byrd Knives / A Spyderco sister company uses (I think it was them). It seemed like it was in between AUS-6 and AUS-8. The article was pretty interesting. I hope Chris can find it. Its worth reading.

If I remember correctly...
8Cr13MoV used to be called "440C" by the people selling it in China, as the first Byrd knives were labeled 440C. Then Spyderco did a chemical analysis of the steel, finding that it was not 440C, and had the name changed to suit.
