I thought I remember hearing that as well. Let me do a search over there to see if I can dig anything up.

I read an old thread from 2005, "We Rc'd them in-house and they were running 60/61." is quote from Sal regarding the initial run of Byrd knives they tested. It's hard to say if things are still the same but it seems to confirm the higher hardness heat treating of 8Cr13MoV.

Wow! That hard huh? No wonder I was surprised by their 8cr.

I need more of their "value" line knives!

cool thanks for the info, i have a ss pe cara cara from 08-09 as my edc since then, with an R on the blade. (some have TM and some have R) not sure the difference. maybe if sal reads this again, he could tell us.... sal if you do read this I have two questions
1 do you think you will offer a saber grind on the cara cara gen 2?
2 have you ever thought of engraving some type of texture on the ss handles? I like the weight but, if my hands are sweaty somtimes it's hard to get a grip.
