The knife has been worked on by a 3rd party so I don't think this really has much to do with CRK, not any more anyway. If this auto mod was done by who I think it was he was also asked to stop doing them by CRK, IIRC.

If tightening the pivot down doesn't fix the problem then there isn't much that can be done. I presume the pivot is kept loose so that the blade will fire to the open postion rather then stall before lock up. I would not buy that knife if I was you, you will be buying a number of potential as well as actual problems......

The way to deal with pimped knives is to go to the pimper for remedy. They should be able to handle any repair work needed or questions about their work. Once it is modified it is no longer a CRK problem-just makes sense that they are only going to warrant their own work.

False alarm, the seller told me he had loosened the pivot prior to storage and the photo was taken before tightening. He just sent me a photo of the lock when the pivot is tightened and everything is as it should be.

I agree with HAZE. Any time a CRK Product is altered, the warranty is immediately voided. Even scotchbrighting a handle too much voids the warranty. Turing a Sebenza into an auto definitely voids it. There is a letter written by Chris himself about the auto Sebenza. I do not have it, but remember seeing it thereabouts. You are now left with home-brewed trouble shooting because CRK will not touch it. Sucks since you paid $$ for this, but we all have had to pass on some nice CRK over the years in the exchange because someone tweeked it.....!

I am fine with that. There are only around 8 of these. I paid less than I would have for a dressed up one with inlays and damascus.

Nobody buys an auto CRK for the warranty! If you're worried about the warranty, of course , buy a new knife.

Thats good then that you did not spend a fortune on it. Did you try the individual that did the modification.....??? Did yours come with the letter I mentioned....?

Plus one.

I have seen a few of these auto conversions and while interesting, they always gave me pause.

I'd like to see a copy of that letter. This is an interesting thread.

There are a lot of guys offering lesser (scope) mod services. I often wonder if they consider the possibility of something going wrong down the road and if they can really make up the warranty the knife used to have?

That's the one with the scale release of which there are around 30 of. Mine has a pushbutton and it's one of eight. I can't believe that scale release one sold for $900... the pushbutton one looks much better in my opinion and it's hard to fathom paying that much for something without a warranty.

I have seen others also. I am surprised there are only 8...I think I have seen half of them shared in various places around the web. I had an opportunity to buy one about a year ago, but it just didnt do much for me.

My thoughts also...but I can see how someone would really want to collect one if they are that rare, I suppose.

I wish CRK manufactured their own D/A Sebenza. I'd definitely purchase it. In my case, the plain Sebenza isn't my cup of tea.
