I finally have stumbled upon the perfect idea to get the Milf for Xmas..

When our kids were little we took hours of family movies...totally boring to anybody except mom and dad...well now the tape generation has come and gone and I have a friend who is willing to burn them on DVD for us. The problem...our favorite video..( kindergarten graduation etc..) got ate by the tape player and broke in half...any way to splice this...and if so where do I go to get the splice materials...

depending on the tolearances of the equipment the friend is working with, a number of things can work.
superglue, with a slight overlap of the tape segments, scotch tape even can do the job, but don't overlap then.
you're likely to lose a short segment from any of these, but its better than nothing.
alternately, empty another tape case, and split the tape into two.

When I use to use the 8mm stuff, tapes broke all the time. I would take a razor blade and make a clean cut with both sides overlapped just enough to get the hole spacing lined up. Then small piece of clear tape just about one inch long to apply. Worked most every time, the trick is keeping the holes consistent so they don't get caught again. I also lapped the holes and cut the tape out of them with sharp knife. Good luck, you should not lose enough to even notice.

ps: you said "got eaten by tape player" Are you talking about VHS or 8mm film?

i have used plain old scotch tape to fix VHS tape, i dont see why it wouldnt work on 8MM just as well.

a bud suggested the 2 sticky sided tape but i never tried it.
