[/IMG] Someone has gone to a lot of trouble with this Chinese made 100th anniversary knife

Crying shame. So people will do anything to make a buck! Of course this is what happens when parts inventory are sold. I personally know another manufacturer that closed their doors and they cut up every tang stamped blade and crushed their shields. They even went as far as to destroy gauges and tang stamp tooling. All of this was sold off to a scrap dealer. The owner wanted to ensure that this didn't happen with his parts later on down the road.

These 8OTs came in the 100th Anniversary Tin, like the 34OTs with the same shield. [No Old Timer on both]
I have two of 8OTs and the 34OTs are still around. My 8OTs came from the Schrade Close Down Sale... Ken.

I took a look at the sellers other items. Definitely not a knife seller, this is the only one for sale or sold in the last three months and all the other sales look legit. I'm guessing they picked this up somewhere else and are trying to flip it unknowingly or maybe knowingly:cool:

The poor fitting of that U.S. made Schrade Anniversary shield, has defaced that good, $20 Chinese Schrade knife.

It looks like the sell has removed this knife from sale, on eBay.

The shields could have been made in china too as the 100th anniversary boxes where made in China,
Around that time Schrade was getting things made in China

There is one posted over there now complete with an imitation tin. "Certified Schrade Collectable". LOL! Maybe they are coming out of China that way? SMH......
The Old Timer shield is not the same and is not in the same position as a real one. I believe it's Chinese from the ground up.

Can you please post photos of the knife and tin.
Schrade was starting to use a 100th Anniversary shield, on their knives.
On the box is printed [example "8OTS"

The knife insert in that tin above, is not the correct one for that tin !
Schrade sold the 8OTs in tins, over the years. I believe that is an old insert.
I do not have any in my collection; mainly because my son likes 8OTs in tins.
This is the tin Schrade used just before they closed down in 2004.
These tins were made in China for Imperial Schrade.
I found about twenty of them on eBay, for under $5 each. [about 2005-2006]

You debunked my theory. I was basing my opinion on the tin that the 34OT comes in. Looking harder at the 100th Anniversary tins I find the two pictured above used for various types of genuine Schrade knives. I'm still thinking that the knife was purposely made that way in China because the shields don't look correct, to me, and the Old Timer shield is placed forward to accommodate the banner shield. But, I guess I could be wrong about that too. I have seen a bunch of bogus anniversary knives from China before and Taylor's efforts to trick people into buying something "special" and "collectable" that's not worth a hoot.

To look at your last theory; I took an 8OT that was made by Imperial Schrade, an sat an Anniversary shield next to the Old Timer shield.
I do not own an 8OT that was made in China, therefor I do not know the size of the Old Time Shield - or the persition it was mounted.
The scale pins on the knife could be in diferent a place also. Schrade used a diferent system to make their knives.

Schrade hot stamped the shileds in place, I belive. The knife in question, has machined [by hand] the shield in place. Ken

Yep, you guys are right. I went back and looked at the close up pictures of the knife and it's clear that it has been milled, like Koldgold posted. If some unwitting people don't bid it up pretty high, that guy went to a lot of trouble to build a $16.00 knife. Lucky to get his money back after buying a knife, tin and banner shields. But, I once saw an EOD loose parts knife sell for over 200 bucks. That's ebay. Think I'll go look at some real Schrades now.

I still can not find an insert like that one.
The knife was made after 2004, by Taylor Brands Knives.
The tin was made in China, for Imperial Schrade.
The second Anniversary shield was poorly milled and fitted, in a stranded Taylor Brands knife.
