It's time to start thinking about summer and fall gatherings it seems. :)

For anyone inclined to this sort of near-death experience, all are invited to the 8th Annual Mischief. We have a great time every year in the most beautiful spot in the Columbia Gorge.

And there might be a knife or two!!

Folks,

Looking like the 3rd weekend in August for the Mischief this year.
Getting rather scared, as in the past seven years of doing this WE ALMOST DIED each time ...!!

Mischief Details:
The Great NW Mischief will again be above the gravel pit off the 6701 Rd.
45* 56.351 N, 121* 51.967 W, WGS 84

From SR 14 (approx Milepost 47) follow Wind River Hwy (30 Rd) north and continue north through Carson.

Right before Milepost 6 on the Wind River Hwy, you will see a sign directing you to "Panther Creek." Take a right onto this road and then an immediate left onto Panther Creek Road (65 Rd).

Follow the 65 road, through “4 Corners” at about Milepost 10. Stay on the 65 Rd north, until Milepost 12, where the pavement ends and the 67 Rd splits off to the left (west). Follow the 67 Rd about a mile and turn right on the 6701 Rd. Less than a mile up the 6701, a gravel pit will be on the left, as you go past it, and up around a corner to the left is a spur road to the left. This is a fairly rough road that will quickly take you to where the NW Mischief will be based.

From the north, take Hwy 12 either east off I-5, or west out of Yakima, to Randle.

From Randle, dump down the 25 Rd., past Mount St. Helens, to the 90 Rd.
Take a left on the 90 Rd. (east), to Curly Creek Rd. (I think its the 51 or 52 Rd.),
Take that right hand turn, and go up the hill to the 30 Rd. (Wind River Hwy).
Go north (left) on the 30 Rd. to Rush Creek Rd. (6507 Rd.) on the right.
Follow the 6507 Rd. up to Panther Creek Rd. (65 Rd.), take a right (south) and go about 6 miles to the 67 Rd.

Other than (lots of) food and drink, I'd recommend lawn chairs, and a helmet or hardhat for the cave (& lots of lights)…

Ham radio: 146.58
FRS: Channel 4
No cell service
No water (bring plenty)
Nearest bathroom about 8 miles
No electricity
Not even adult supervision...

Outstanding! See you there Widerstand!

Oh, and here's a pictorial for the drive from SR14 at Carson to the site.

Note: take the second "Old State Rd" - the one with the brown sign as shown.

I'm already looking forward to it!

Hello! As always really looking forward to some Mischief.

Last year there must have been at least 15+ people at one point IIRC.

I've been thinking all year of some really good food to make

that MIGHT keep up with all the other amazing cooks that show up.

It's generally pretty hopping! The main event has typically been Saturday through Sunday morning, but several folks get started on Thursday and just make themselves at home for the weekend. There's usually 10-15 there at any given time, but probably about 20-25 people who stop in at various times.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Josh, will this be your 7th straight?!

It's hard to remember, might be 5th or 6th. My first year was when the SAR

folks got called out till after dark and came back with stories to tell.

It's pretty cool every year seems to hold something a bit different and

a bit the same. After going once I knew I couldn't miss out hanging with

such a great group of people.

Looking forward to visiting with all of you again - and some new people as well!

The terror builds ...!
Hard to believe this will be the 8th Random Gathering of Miscellaneous Miscreants and Knife-Knuts!!

May even head up today to check out Mischief Henge, for our Sunday Trees-N-Quiet (meet Noon at the EOC (still plenty of time to make it from Portland/Vancouver)).

Oooo; now about Saturday's Campfire Dinner... ....!

Cheers,

Used to live in WA, stuff like this would be a blast. Post pics please!

I also used to live there (Yakima), up until about a year ago. I now live in upstate New York, Akula..we should try planning something like this within a few hours of yourself and me. Sorry to take a bit of your thread Troy :-)

I would be up for that.

Hi Claymoore,

Google earth routes the drive south 395 to SR14. When headed west on SR14, look for the second turn into Carson (not the one that is right after the Wind River). It will be a sharp right hand turn just after a rise. Once there, follow the directions in this document: Mischief Directions (pdf).

Looks like 189 miles. See you there!
