Greetings everyone,

I finally got around to finishing another Barber’s notch straight razor. This one is made from O-1 tool steel, with stabilized African Blackwood scales and a Yew wedge. The exterior stepped washers and the pins are stainless steel. The inner washers are copper. The blade is about a 9/8.

very nice razor Chris, absolutely stunning. the blackwood is a good scale material I used a block on a searles bowie I did a while back, I also love the smile.

Nice looking razor. Smiling heavy near wedge grind with thumb notch, what is not to like. Bet it shaves like a champ.

Bob

Nice looking razor, nice work! That near wedge will fly right through any beard:thumbup:

2 questions: Do you hone your razors so they are shave ready prior to delivery? And is 9/8 the only size you make?

there are many tales about barber notches, the one I hold stock in is the fact they could hang it on a pocket and open it with one hand. other tales include pushing your nose to tilt your head. use your imagination and you will see there are many tales about them. my old barber told me to open with one hand and I can only make sense of that one.
